Happy Labour Day! Do you have to work today? Or did you get the day off?

I thought today is a great time to reflect on our journey together. I started this blog just before Christmas 2018. We have been meeting now for about 5 ½ months. I have discussing sharing with you new ways to approach your life and hopefully inspired you to make some changes in your thinking and behavior.

I thought it would be a nice time to reflect and see how you are doing. Change is very hard, so it is nice to review and see what you have accomplished and what modifications you need to make to get the most out of your life. The journey to embrace who you are can be overwhelming at times.

One of my first posts was doing things, such as going on vacations or out to eat, that you may have thought you could only do with someone. Have you attempted either? Going on a vacation can be really intimidating and many of my clients discuss how holidays can make them feel even more alone. In future blogs I’ll discuss this more. If you have not, reflect, what is holiday you back. Write down your feelings and thoughts. Evaluate how true those feelings or thoughts are?

I’m very big on people’s living space. In several of my blogs I talked about creating your living space to be one that reflects yourself and make you feel warm, loved and cozy. You want your space to be a place that you look forward to spending time in and makes you feel good about yourself. I talked about clearing out clutter and just getting rid of things you don’t use. We discussed inexpensive ways to make your space more your own through painting the walls, putting up art, curtains and redesigning the space to reflect yourself. I have found huge enjoyment in my new work space.

Did you make any minor changes? If so, what have you noticed about how you feel at home? Feeling good in your space reduces loneliness and makes you more productive. If you haven’t done anything, reflect on why? Is it because you haven’t made yourself a priority? Or is it due to money? Write down your reasons/excuses. If you want to feel better, we need to make changes in our behavior. It can be really hard. Ask yourself, how can I make my space a little bit better? Maybe it is just decluttering your space or getting better lighting.

Another theme for combating loneliness is to plan. Planning is so important. Many people don’t like to plan they like to just let things happens. But this is often a receipt for disaster. If you want to use your free time effectively and get quality for it, you need to plan. You even need to plan your down time. Planning gives us quality and shows we can about ourselves and our time.

Along with planning were themes of purposefulness. Do you feel like how you use your free time makes you feel like its adding value to your life. Does it in some ways contribute to person growth. Many times people’s down time is just killing time. Hours spent scrolling Facebook, Tinder or the web with no aim or purpose.

The last two, planning and purpose, are often met with a lot of mental resistance. Is that true for you? Examine those feelings if they are negative. See how your lack of planning or no purpose is actually helping you? Is it really? Review the blogs again and see what you can pull from them.
